or the frayed and faded jeans. It might have been the curly shock of black hair that partially obstructed his vision. Whatever it was, the ghost of her father coming out through her son always unnerved her a bit. She reminded herself – as she always does – that Trevor is not her father. Not even though when he is gushing over some record, or playing his guitar, or sweet talking his current girlfriend in her kitchen… not even when Bennett can clearly see the power of genes at play.

And they are present in Nate too - the boys are identical to everyone but her and Todd - but Nate has never held a guitar, and in fact holds himself completely differently than his twin. He walks through the world with an unshakeable confidence and so he doesn't stop her heart with fear...
