Daphne opens her door looking tired. She’s holding a bottle of Windex and a wad of paper towels in one hand.

“Boy am I glad to see you.” She opens the door and Bennett follows her into the kitchen. Daphne drops the Windex and paper towels on the counter. She grabs a tea kettle of the stovetop and fills it at the faucet. After clanging it back onto the burner and flipping the gas to high she turns back to Bennett with a huge eye roll.

“Gloria says she can’t see out of her windows because they are too dirty.” Daphne throws up a pair of floating quotation marks. “She likes to watch the birds.” At this she gives a pretty forceful ‘bird’ in the direction of the staircase that leads up to where, Bennett assumes, her mother-in-law is nesting.
