“We’ll be alright.  You’ll be alright.  Adam, please believe.”

     He lifted his face to hers and stared into her eyes.  They were loving, sympathetic.

     “Believe in what?”

     Believe in God.  He’ll bring you back to us.  Believe in yourself.  That you can live through this and take care of yourself.”

     “Let’s be truthful, Des,” Adam spoke, calming a little.  “The world has changed all around us and this town has stayed the same.  I don’t even know where I’m going.  I just know it’s far away from here, and I’ll be far away from you and Justine....
