None of that, young lady,” Dessie reprimanded.  “Off to bed.  Mama come in in a minute to tuck you in.”

     “Yes, Ma’am,” Justine replied.

     She walked over to her pa, kissed his cheek, and after he kissed hers, she ascended the stairs and went to her room.

     Dessie knelt down in front of Adam, who was finally sitting in his chair.  She reached up and touched his face, her eyes wide open as she gazed into his.

     “We’ll get through this, too.  We’ve been through a lot, haven’t we?”

     Adam nodded a yes and she kissed him.

     “We’ll get through this, too, and you’ll come home alive...
