shadow in the doorway of the clinic.  She jumped up from the chair, suddenly startled, as he spoke.

     “Whatcha into?”  Adam asked her

     “Um.  Not much,” she passed off, closing the file.  It could wait a minute.  “How’s Ma?”

     “The same.  I refilled her sleeping powders.  She’s still not sleeping well.  Can’t get used to it by herself, I suppose.”

     “I suppose.”

     He had seen the file, but didn’t know it was Louis’s, yet.
