a little longer and Adam came down the stairs, carefully carrying a small bundle wrapped in a white blanket, wand wearing a huge, proud smile on his face.

     “It’s a girl, ya’all.” Adam tilted the small bundle, just a little, for them to see the wee child.  “Meet Justine Margaret Hall.”

     Christine took the slightly squirming baby, held her close to her own face, smelling her fragrant baby smell, talking quietly to her new granddaughter.

     “Dessie?” Ryan asked and Christine’s head shot up, too, to hear Adam’s answer.

     “She’s fine,” Adam smiled, admiring the grandparents’ love for such a new member of the family.  “She’s exhausted,...
