“I’d better get back,” Adam said sadly.  “I’m just looking forward to the day I don’t have to say goodnight and leave you.”

     “Me, too.”

     He put a finger under Dessie’s chin and raised her face to meet his.  He touched her cheek softly and kissed her even softer.

     “I love you, Destiny.  I’ll see you tomorrow.”

     “Yes,” she breathed.  “I love you, too.  Goodnight.”

     “Goodnight.”

     He kissed her once more then climbed into the wagon and told the horses to giddup.  He was off and soon out of sight.
