Adam was able to get away from the Harlow home for just a little while to go talk to Dessie’s pa.  He left a note on his office door saying her would be at Dessie’s house in case anyone needed him, they could find him there.  He was so nervous and wished he could stay with Tucker, but his family was there and they’d still be there when Adam returned.  The man was in good hands.  At least, he was stable enough to leave him. 

     Adam hitched up the team with shaking hands and drove them out to Dessie’s farm with his arms shaking just as much and his thoughts running through his head at a gallop.  He rehearsed it all the way out there, what he’d say, how he’d say it.  There didn’t seem to be enoug...
