house, lots of fancy, store-boughten things.  Until Ma died.  Pa stopped working, stopped caring, stopped everything.  We had to sell the house and move into town, because when Pa quit working, he let everything go, all the bills.  The bank foreclosed on the house and took everything we owned.  We, me and Pa, moved into the boarding house right outside of town.”  He sighed heavily, and went on.  He still had his hand on Dessie’s, only it seemed to her, he was holding hers awfully tightly.  “Then, when Pa learned about the land runs, he wanted to come here.  I’d never seen him come to life like that, since he had been with Ma.  We got our land, and he died only three years ago.  He loved living here, suited him, brought the shine back into his eyes work...
