The next morning, Dessie bounded out of bed, got ready for school extra quickly, and was on her way, well before her ma and pa finished breakfast.  They did ask her why she was in such a hurry, but she told them she didn’t have much time to talk, and would tell them later.  She didn’t want to get their hopes up with something that may not happen.  Then, with her brown curls flying behind her, she ran out the door, stealing a piece of toast off the plate as she ran by.

     The school day flew by, and Dessie was glad of that.  She told Sarah she had to run an errand and to go on home.  Dessie had a mission this afternoon.
