that motherly look she knew so well.  The young girl smiled.

     “There’s nothing to tell.  We delivered Mary’s baby, stayed a little while, to make sure they were fine, with no problems, then he drove me home.  Nothing more to tell,” Dessie explained to them.  “I have a big spelling test tomorrow.”

     She kissed both her ma and pa and gave them a reassuring look, as she glanced back at them, while she went up the stairs.

     She quietly sat on her bed.  A fleeting smile came to her mouth.  She gazed out the window, and stared at the sunset’s beautiful, earthy colors.  Somehow, though, tonight’s, she thought, was the most colorful, and beautiful, one she had ever seen on...
