Light, fluffy, cold.

A chill touches the tip of my nose,

A shiver chases it down my spine.

The air is still and silent,

But it holds secrets in its grasp.

Trees shake from their blankets,

Animals slumber in their dens,

Humans trudge through life counting down to the arrival of the man in red.

Children around me laugh and giggle, candy in their fingers, frost in their hair.

A young girl dances past me.

A boy follows close behind.

A light shiver cascades down my spine

And I watch as the forms shimmer and shine.

The trees go still and the air goes silent once again.

Such a small thing,

So much power.

Light, fluffy, cold.
