Kensei sat alone in her holding cell. In the adjacent cell, several bruised and bloody criminals glared at her. She chanted the nembutsu, trying to find peace of mind. But nothing was happening. Being darker skinned, she always assumed that she'd get picked up for a stupid reason. But behind her mask, no one knew what her ethnicity was. Especially the new mask, which even concealed her eyes. And the police knew she was a hero.
They had taken her weapons and her utility belt, but left her the secret of her identity. She didn't know how the police normally handled people in masks, but she appreciated having that much dignity preserved.
