Kensei stared at the house from a rooftop across the street. It looked uninhabited, with boarded windows and only darkness within. But she knew with absolute certainty that this was where the cult was operating from. She guessed it was maybe one bedroom, a tiny structure between two large apartment buildings.

Nighttime was when the Hollows really seemed to wake up. Apartment windows filled with light. Some people sat at a picnic bench outside of a barbecue place that had no sign. The smell reminded her that she hadn't had dinner.
