The spooks are coming,

Watch out!

Beware their keen disguises.

They dress to impress,

To amuse,

To delight,

And they wander the streets on Halloween night.

You probably think that under the mask

Under the sheet

Under the cape

Walks a neighborhood child

Just looking for sweets

In the chill of mid-Fall.

But beware!

For that is the trickiest trick of them all!

Look closer and closer if you dare

Beneath the cape

Beneath the mask

Beneath the child 

With piping voice and sparkling eyes

For deep inside

That is the spook!
