Adventure
Series Info | Table of Contents
Today, I will go on an adventure.
I will pack my suitcase
With dreams and clean clothes.
I will ask the neighbor
To fetch the mail and feed the fish.
I will clean my floors
And wash dishes and change sheets.
I will have the oil changed
In my car, and fill the gas tank, so responsible.
I will mow the lawn
And bid the bees and butterflies farewell.
I will dust and polish and prepare and and and
I will watch the sun sink behind the trees
And sigh at an adventure unsought.
I will knock on my neighbor's door
And say, "Thank you, but nevermind about the fish and the mail."
I will fold my clothes and dreams
Back into my lavender scented drawers.
I will pour myself a glass
Of tea or wine or sparkling water.
I will sink into my favorite chair
And prop my feet up just so.
I will open a book
A thrilling mystery, a heart-wrending romance, or an old familiar friend, and
I will go on an adventure.
