I can’t believe both my children attend secondary school. It seems a few days ago that Jamie attended his first day in primary school. He’d turned five and looked so sweet in his little uniform. Now I wave them off at 8.30 a.m. and don’t see them again until I collect them at half three.

The teachers are still going easy on them. Jamie had two pieces of homework but Hannah had none so I brought her to the town for her garden show reward.

The reward was a stroke of genius. I am totally sick of applying head-lice treatments to Hannah’s hair. I don’t know if Chloe O’Leary keeps infecting the class or it’s some other child, but it has been driving me bonkers for months. I ha...
