I didn’t bring this diary on holidays. I couldn’t fit it in my bag. I blame the shoes.

Any woman who has ever packed for a trip away, even a single night, will know a single pair of shoes isn’t enough. Whereas men, lucky creatures, can wear one pair for a week and all their clothes will work with those shoes.

I wanted to bring my patchwork maxi dress so I had something fancy to wear in the evenings, especially for the couple of dinners out we had planned. If I wasn’t cooking I wanted to celebrate.
