Film scores of the past thirty or forty years, especially scores for fantasy films, have this very interesting, magical feel to them. Just the way the piano and string sections blend so well, and how the occasional wind instruments, especially flutes or clarinets, come in at just the right times, there is something beautiful and magical about these film scores. Shrek, The Lion King, and many other fantasy films have elements of this in their scores; these properties are associated with film composer Hans Zimmer, though others such as Harry Gregson-Williams have composed in this style.
