These days, with self-produced music and synthesized instruments, authentic orchestral compositions are few and far between; as far as orchestral compositions of the past five decades, most of the famous ones are film scores, and most symphony orchestra performances are classical pieces from centuries ago, with the occasional film score, and when they play something more modern that is not a film score, it doesn't seem to get as much attention as a film score or a piece from the 1700s would.
