Nick and Amy have been married for seventeen years and for over half of those years they’ve lived in an old, rambling house surrounded by huge, rambling old trees.  In the corner of their backyard stands an apple tree that frustratingly only ever produces just a handful of apple blossoms each April, of which only three ever grow into apples.  They often joke the tree begrudgingly gives them one apple per kid per year and not a piece of fruit more.  But this year, something magical happened.  The usually stingy apple tree exploded with blooms in the spring and hundreds of tiny baby apples began to grow and swell and Nick and Amy marveled at how good the world was treating them.  Their gardening luck was turning around.
