gestured at them to stop talking and pointed to the print room. An unnatural light seemed to beam from it. Gabriel nodded, and as the smoke closed in around them, obscuring their view and stifling their breathing, a last burst of will got them into the room. The Archangel Raphael had created a pocket of air and a portal beyond the door.

Raphael and Gabriel nearly threw the humans through the portal, which opened onto the street behind the offices. Coughing and gasping, they collapsed on the sidewalk. “Is everyone okay?” Isabella asked as soon as she had enough air. “Are we all here?”

“Yes,” Paul answered. “Now let’s get the hell out of here.”

“Call the club and tell them to prepare for a teleport,” Raphael said. “Do it quickly.”...
