A few small objects rolled in, and the room was filled with a thick fog. Those enemies who were conscious started to mutter and scream, and Sayeva began to understand why as large shapes formed against the fog and took on glowing outlines. They reached for her, and Sayeva stumbled backward, crawling on her hands. Among the shadows, she saw Mel trade a few punches with Ana, then knock her out. Someone tried to knock her out from behind, but a long, slender shadow took out her would-be attacker. It handed her something and pointed at Sayeva.

Sayeva felt her heartbeat spike and her breathing rise. The shadows coalesced. She scooted backward and got to her feet, only to feel something grab her. She tried to turn and strike out with her claws, but the shadow caught her wrist, and then out something in it.
