As Samuel fired a fifth round, the rougarou bowled into him. They rolled a short distance until the much larger rougarou landed on top of Samuel. But Samuel had the gun resting against its head, above its long snout.
Winters yelled, “Jamison!”
The last shot went off in a blur of grey and black. Rather than risk biting into Samuel and getting shot for it, the rougarou chose to fling Samuel aside, its long claws ripping into Samuel’s skin as it released its grasp. Samuel landed just short of the train tracks and stayed down. Sayeva broke off charging the rougarou and rushed to Samuel’s side instead.
