They had a plan and they had an edge. They only needed a team.

Across the city, they met and practiced in secret. They made an odd assembly, coming from all walks of life. Among them were an ancient shapeshifter, a newly minted afterlife guardian, three varieties of Fae, and a vampire, as well as numerous more-than-ordinary humans. And a few who no one was sure were actually human.

The restaurant known as “Palisadoes” became an unofficial headquarters for part of the group. At night, after business hours, Jamison met with Malik to discuss the core of their strategy. Later, the group grew to include Blair and Ruaridh Winters, most of the other Eccentrics, and one other unexpected guest.
