“Very well,” Winters said. “You know how to find me.”

He got up and left. She was alone for a few minutes.

“Good evening, Miss Reardon,” a familiar voice said.

Sayeva looked up. Her lips parted in a silent, stunned gasp. Astaire Kenton, the third and most powerful member of the Brotherhood leadership, stood over her.

“Yes,” Kenton said. “It was me.”

He sat on the bench, which swayed under his weight.

“Tell me how you did it,” Sayeva said.

“I infiltrated them,” Kenton said. “I gained their trust. I worked for them. I became their most trusted man. I became something else.”

“I’ll do the same,” Sayeva said.
