From his left came an enormous, barely humanoid poltergeist. It barreled toward him with the force of a rolling boulder. Winters pushed him to the floor and threw a force field over both of them just in time for the poltergeist to slam into it. The energy shield whittled away at the ghost as it ran through it and over the two men, coming out on the other side. Two more poltergeists, these slender as usual, appeared on Jamison’s left. “Cavanaugh, go!” Winters barked, hauling a startled Jamison up and toward the smaller ghosts. “Sayeva, keep Darlene well away!”
