Jamison poured the salt in a line, dividing the living room from front to rear. “Sayeva, Sam, keep an eye and an ear out for anything. Stand near the line.”
Sayeva and Samuel took up their stations at the salt line.
“Part one,” Jamison murmured. “Okay. Ready?”
Winters nodded. Jamison took a breath and squared his shoulders, then focused on the space immediately around him, just as he had practiced. Only this time, Winters was standing in that space.
The sensation was not unlike standing next to a fountain on a warm day. When dealing with ghosts, Jamison had felt the same energy in ebbs; with Winters in his proximity, the energy was a strong, steady pulse. Jamison reached for it and fashioned a door.
