"He's almost got it," the flapper commented. 

"Or," Jamison said, "what's important about the ghosts? Who has the ability to command poltergeists? And what were they there to defend against?" 

He leapt off the table and started pacing. "Most of the women were never found. The ones who were didn't have clear causes of death. That's why I took this case. That and the ghosts telling me about it, anyway. But this has way more to it than I thought, right? It's all about supernatural abilities." He spun on his heels. "Darlene. How many of you are there? How many women and girls killed by this thing?"
