Seated outside the large Gentilly home that would play host to that evening's ball, Sayeva considered the events that had led to that moment. Revelations of all sorts had dominated her weekend. She was not sure how to feel about most of them.

Angelica's comments on Samuel's relation to the Eccentrics, or rather the lack thereof, had been the first. While meeting Sayeva to discuss the Searcy case over takeout that evening, Jamison had provided another.

"Oh, I heard you've been added as an official consultant to the force," he'd remarked as they pored over their notes. "Congrats, Chilla."
