Sayeva glanced at Samuel. His expression was impassive. "We've met," Sayeva said carefully. "They have a civil lawsuit against me."

"I'm aware," the ADA replied. "All the better to put it all behind us. Don't you agree?"

Again, Sayeva looked at Samuel; his countenance had not changed. Adrien Lefévre was studying Sayeva intently, while Dianne was fiddling with her hands. "What do you want me to say?" Sayeva asked one of them.
