Now that I'm actually starting to experience somewhat of a normal life again, one of the things that's suddenly standing out to me is how difficult the questioning looks of my peers were on a day-to-day basis in those first couple of months of recovery. When I say peers I do mean virtually everyone, ranging from close friends to acquaintances but mostly, I do mean complete strangers. Perhaps only my closest family members and husband - and two or three very good friends - never made me feel, at any point, like I was standing out awkwardly, some bizarre, complicated, incomprehensible object of circumstance.
