Back in the 1990's, The Village Voice was probably the coolest newspaper on the planet. It had all the club listings ($2 Bud Light at CBGS – Monday Only!), the announcements of who was performing where (Fugazi at the Pallidum!), art gallery openings, interviews with rock stars and musicians, Village icons, artists, poets, writers of all kinds. It was exceedingly liberal and the ultimate guide to culture in downtown Manhattan. And it was free —which was a rare thing in New York in those days.
But the best part of it all was the back page. It was called the Bulletin Board.
On the very last page of The Village Voice, the back cover, were a motley collection of classified listings. Every week you could learn how to sell your ovaries for cash, find out which sex clubs were hir...
