Clement Rankin’s house had been hard to find. Hartley Moor was full of winding, unlit, unsigned, single-track roads. All looked the same; none seemed right; satnav was useless. The only way to get there was to keep remembering the stately home bordered the very north-western tip of the Templeton Estate.
