‘The driver of the 12.17 from Holme Hill to Hartley, Halifax and Wakefield.’

‘What time did the train enter the tunnel?’

‘It was ten minutes late – as usual for Northern Fail – so it was about 12.28. What are you laughing at sir?’

‘Just thinking of Freddie. He would be able to tell you exactly, based on time of departure from Holme Hill and likely speed from there to the tunnel mouth. Perhaps I will do later!’
