‘Any news?’

Georgie Ellis shook her head.

‘It must be awful when your child goes missing. Poor May and his wife!’

‘I know Tiggy. He can’t have slept for the last 24 hours.’

‘Is that how long Freddie has been missing?’

‘Just over, I think. One of his friends raised the alarm when he was not in his room yesterday morning.’

‘A fellow student, presumably, George?’ Tiggy took a large bite out of a shiny red-green apple and chewed it noisily.
