I didn’t know where else to go after what happened with Jake and the shadows. I drove around all night. I didn’t want to stop, because I knew they would catch up with me. I couldn’t even stop to get gas. I had to remember to put on my headlights. The night is so bright to me now.

I thought I had no other safe haven than home. If Nina was there, I’d tell her everything. I’d apologize to her for being an asshole. I’d be able to lay down next to her again, feel her warm body next to mine at night again, hear her soft breathing.
