I launched the tip of the hose upward like a dart. The tip floated up and over the metal box that contained the device. It then came looping back down on the other side. The tip made a loud clang as it hit the ground. The captain looked at the tip, then upwards. The hose formed a little tent over the box. The captain took a second to make sense of it, and then nodded again. He grabbed hold of one side of the hose, the “down” side. He dropped his cane and gripped the hose firmly with both hands.
