was a pit of dark murky water 20 feet below. Who knows how much jagged debris could be waiting just below the surface. Or worse. I didn’t want to find out. I twisted my neck upwards again and decided.

The only way up… was to climb.

I let out a loud, exaggerated sigh for nobody but myself to hear. There was always something. I mumbled a few complaints under my breath, wiggled my arms to life, and then carefully proceeded to inch out into the vertical hallway. Luckily the sides of the corridor consisted of tiles, which protruded from the wall about two or three inches. Many of them had broken off, but there were still enough for me to mentally map out the next 15 to 20 feet.
