margin-right:0cm">I had no time to look. No time to think. My arms were giving out. I took a gamble. I kicked my right leg up to replace my right hand on the miry belly. I continued to awkwardly push the beast away while my free hand made its move. I reached for the rock. It’s there. The creature squirmed violently and dislodged my foot.

 

I wrapped my fingers around the stake-like stone and unsheathed it from my beltloop. My foot slipped entirely from the monster's underside. It gaped open its mouth and darted in for the kill. Hundreds of prongs sprang to carve me. But I led my own attack. I promptly shoved the pointy rock between the rows of teeth, right into the roof of the wide-open mouth. The tip stabbed through the beast's insides...
