     “What kind of family did you grow up in?”

     “Typical, I guess.  Mom, Dad, dog.  Mom worked, then quit until I was a teenager, then went back.  Dad made a good living, but Mom wanted a little extra for little things for her.  They’re both retired now.  We had family dinner every night at the dining room table, and they both helped me with my homework.  My dad belonged to a company baseball team.  He was a pitcher, so we spent our Saturday afternoons cheering him on from the stands at our local sports park.  In the winter, we gathered around the tv on Saturdays and Sundays and watched college and professional football.”
