over it, and realized it was surface carved, being ever so careful not to break the violin’s body.  I had so many questions, all of a sudden, and no answers.  All I could do was just sit and stare at the Jewish Star on the back of this amazingly, beautiful instrument.  There was much more to this violin than met the eye.

     I called my boss.

     “Hey, um, I picked up a rather unusual item at the flee market today.”

     “Oh, Kailey, did you get another one of those weird solar lights with all the little woodland animals around it again?”

     “No, I have enough of those.  Ha ha.  I picked up an old violin at the flee market today.”
