I ended the interview with my heart wrenched and twisted around for him.  He wanted forgiveness so much, and yet, when it was given to him, by God, years and years ago, he couldn’t take it and go on with his life.  This old priest was even more frail because of his tortured mind all these years.  He had touched my soul, my life, yet, if I told him, he wouldn’t believe me.  He believed himself to be the worst of the worst.  If he was a monster, who had killed his family, and was sitting on death row at age 34, it might be a different story.  His old priest was at the end of his life and had done good for people, working hard, and working to make things right.  Had he?  That wasn’t my question to answer.  It wasn’t even his. ...
