The only thing better than securing your first paying job and becoming responsible and owning things is the day you can retire from a lifetime of work that was unsatisfying, stressful, and controlling. Like a really bad relationship.

I’m at the point in my career where retirement is within sight, but it’s still more than an arm’s length away. There’s a light at the end of the tunnel, but at this point it’s still dim. The only thing keeping me going is the desire to strive and push forward closer to the light. Sun on my face, air, enjoyment, peace, freedom.

It’s much too late for me to pursue a new career path or vocation, and I’m too young to throw the towel in, collect my pension (yes, I actually have one!), and play golf seven da...
