I started thinking about this a few years ago. I started researching different theories about the link between any form of art and the development of empathy and how they intersect. And I read many articles and studies about this connection. Why does art effect our brains so much? 

I believe strongly that the main purpose of art is to do this, this is why it exists. The studies show that fictional character moreso than a 'true story' develops empathy because when you read something from a first person point of view, you tend to put yourself into the shoes of that person. It's a reaction that you cannot control or stop from happening.
