The father had pulled his cell phone from his pocket while I continued to stare at the strange scene. The earth was soft, I would think whoever the culprit was would have left shoe prints, but to my dismay the branches they had destroyed had completely removed their traces. There was no doubt in my mind that this was done on purpose as well. Whoever it was, they were smart enough to cover their tracks. I knelt down to get a better look, careful not to move any closer. I was sure the police department would arrive and make a mess of the scene. Most clues would be lost. The whole event would ultimately be ignored despite their continued statement of I assure you sir, we will get to the bottom of this. It was a production I had seen them do countless times.
