Jack paused and looked at his wife with a feeling of resolute calmness. He didn’t know what was going on, but he knew it didn’t have anything to do with ghosts. He knew she had reason to believe that something might be afoot, because he trusted her resolve, but that didn't necessarily mean it was anything scary or negative. He wanted to make sure he handled this the right way because he didn't want to upset her and he wanted to make sure that she could trust him to talk about important things. He thought of how to proceed.

“Babe, you had a scary ordeal just now. WE had a scary ordeal just now. Can you talk me through what happened?” asked Jack. "I promise I won't be a dick about it."
