On Evie’s seventeenth birthday, Connor approached Jesse about his daughter’s hand in marriage.  He explained to his stepfather that he had been her best friend since they were children, and the two of them could talk about anything.  He confided that his feelings for her had grown into love, and she returned his sentiments. 

Jesse had been a father to Connor since the boy was ten years old and recognized himself in his stepson when he was pleading his case.  He felt the same way about Lexi, and she was the love of his life.  He gave Connor his blessing.
