Zach initiated building a restaurant in town, and Viola had the idea of adding a bakery where people could purchase fresh baked goods. She also prompted him to hire several widows in town to do the cooking and baking. She bragged to her brother that nothing made her prouder than realizing her new husband’s endeavors were a success. Her reward was having her name on a sign above the new business—Viola Mae’s Restaurant and Bakery.
