When they arrived at the beach house, Jasper did not come to the door. Zach instructed Lexi to step back, and he kicked it in. The paintings were gone, including the one of herself, as if the nightmare never happened.

Cooper was pacing back and forth in front of Zach’s room when they returned to the hotel. “Where the hell have the two of you been?”

Lexi was evasive. “I needed to run an errand, and I asked Zach to come with me. I thought you were supposed to wait in your room for me.”

He grabbed her arm and pulled her towards him. “We’re going to my room—now!”

Lexi tried to jerk aw­­ay from Cooper, but he was too strong. She twisted her ankle and started to fall to the floor. Zach had a hold of her in an instant. She winced...
